Dishlist [Prototype]

When local blog Tucson Foodie wanted to develop a new app for their >80k monthly readers, Go For Vertical helped them develop the roadmap that would get them there, starting from scratch.

The high level concept?

Tinder for food. Swipe right if you like a dish and want to try it, and swipe left if you don’t. Add in some amazing dishes from local restaurants and thousands of loyal readers who love food, and you have the beginning of a new app.

The first was to develop a strategic prototype that would prove the audience would actually be into this, so using Vertical, the team mapped out the exact experience we wanted the users to have, and designed a production-like prototype with high-quality graphics, design and UX, and an easy-to-use swiping interface.

The goal: let the users swipe on their favorite dishes and also convert by providing their email to get a list of their selections, and to also sign up for future updates on this new app.

The remarkable outcome.

Developed in just a few weeks and costing around $1400, the prototype was a runaway success. Of the 240 users that signed up to try it, 43% swiped at least 15 times and also provided their contact information to sign up for the app.

This is an extraordinary conversion rate, and shows what’s possible when you plan and lay out a strategic plan in advance, and then deliver the exact right solution to your audience.
